New Electronic Visa Update System for Chinese Visitors
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently announced the implementation of the Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS), impacting Chinese nationals who currently hold a 10-year B1/B2 , B1, or B2 Visitor visa.
EVUS enrollment will become mandatory on November 29, 2 016 . At that point, all individuals carrying maximum validity (10-year) B1/B2 , B1, and B2 visas in passports issued by the People's Republic of China must have a valid EVUS enrollment in order to travel to the United States. Therefore in addition to a valid visa, these travelers will be required to complete an EVUS enrollment prior to being admitted into the United States.
The purpose of the EVUS system is to update biographic information on a periodic basis for individuals with extended visa validities. An information update (referred to as an "enrollment") will last for two years or when the traveler's visa or passport expires, whichever comes first.
The EVUS website will be available in both English and Mandarin. The fee to enroll in EVUS is $8 (53 RMB). Travelers should check the CBP EVUS website for more information.
Please contact an MVA team member with any questions or concerns about EVUS or travel to the U.S. on a B1/B2 , B1 or B2 visitor visa.
