Moore & Van Allen (MVA) Financial Regulatory Advise & Response Senior Counsel Sarah Byrne served as a presenter for the Charlotte Triage Pro Bono Partnership panel titled, “Human Trafficking and Financial Exploitation: Credit Repair Needs of Survivors and the Debt Bondage Repair Act,” which took place on September 20.

The presentation discussed ways to help human trafficking survivors repair their credit status, frequently compromised by forced or coerced debts accrued at the hands of traffickers. Although a survivor may become free of the physical exploitation, the financial impact, like the psychological harm, can continue for many years.
