Edward O’Keefe Selected for North Carolina Lawyers Weekly 2024 Leaders in the Law List

Moore & Van Allen PLLC (MVA) is pleased to announce that Member Edward P. O’Keefe, who co-leads the firm’s Financial Regulatory Advice & Response practice, was selected for the North Carolina Lawyers Weekly Leaders in the Law Class of 2024.

Leaders in the Law, an annual peer-based awards program, honors lawyers who are setting the standard for other lawyers. Leaders’ accomplishments include outstanding contributions to the practice of law in North Carolina, significant achievements through the practice of law, leadership in improving the justice system, acting as role models and mentors, and making essential contributions to North Carolina’s legal community and/or the community at large. The 2024 honorees will be formally recognized at an awards presentation on April 25.

O’Keefe, a Member of MVA since 2015, is the former Global General Counsel of Bank of America Corporation. Having also headed or served as a senior executive with Bank of America's compliance, technology, human resources, and operations functions, his broad experience includes all aspects of investigations, litigation, regulatory compliance, governance, cybersecurity, compensation, and risk management. Ed's regulatory compliance practice includes advising major financial institutions on resolving their critical enterprise level regulatory issues. He also advises clients with respect to BSA/AML, anti-bribery/anti-corruption, resolution planning, stress testing, and responding to regulatory inquiries. Beyond his practice endeavors, O’Keefe serves as the long-time co-chair of MVA’s active Public Service Committee, helping to lead the firm’s public service and pro bono efforts by identifying, coordinating, and facilitating opportunities for attorneys and staff.

O’Keefe is well-known for both his industry and community contributions, including his service on the Thomson Reuters Legal Executive Advisory Board, Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, as Treasurer for the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy, as former board chair of the United Way of Central Carolinas, and former president of Council for Children’s Rights Board. He is an American Bar Foundation Life Fellow and also serves on the UNC Center for Banking and Finance Board of Advisors. Ed’s practice is nationally recognized by multiple ratings, including Chambers & Partners.
