Moore & Van Allen PLLC (MVA) is pleased to announce that Joseph “Joe” A. Fernandez, co-head of the firm’s Corporate group, was ranked as a recommended lawyer in the Energy - Power/Electricity category in the 2024 Who’s Who Legal (WWL) energy guide, WWL: Energy.

WWL: Energy seeks to identify private practice lawyers who have a proven track record in representing and advising major, independent, and energy companies and financiers involved in the exploration, production, marketing, and transportation of all types of energy, including oil, gas, nuclear, and renewables.

This year’s guide recognizes lawyers, barristers, and consulting experts from 518 firms across 78 countries. WWL’s findings are based on a three-step research and selection process that involves nominations, online surveys and voting, and phone and face-to-face interviews with referees and other practitioners.

In his practice, Fernandez represents traditional and renewable energy facilities in corporate finance and project finance transactions, acquisitions and divestitures of project companies, negotiating and drafting project contracts, and in the development and construction of new facilities. He also has substantial experience negotiating and documenting fuel and fuel transportation agreements for electric generating facilities and in structuring, negotiating, and documenting various energy commodity and other hedging transactions involving financial derivative and physically settled products for electric generating facilities.

WWL, part of Lexology, is considered to be one of the world’s leading directories of legal practitioners and non-lawyer consulting experts established to reduce the short-term costs incurred in finding a lawyer and minimize the transactional expense and risk of receiving poor counsel. The publications are designed as a reference source for companies seeking to corroborate the reputations of practitioners recommended by another party. In total, WWL researches 37 individual practice area reports covering corporate and commercial law.
