Moore & Van Allen (MVA) Head of Tax and Co-head of Corporate, Billy H. Moore Jr., has been honored with the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian award.

The Order of the Palmetto is presented to individuals in recognition of a lifetime of exceptional achievement, service, and contributions on both a statewide and national level. It honors those who have made significant, selfless contributions to the community, dedicating their time, resources, and goodwill to a variety of causes that benefit their fellow citizens and the prosperity of South Carolina. While accomplishments in business, politics, or personal life are considered, the true purpose of the award is to recognize individuals whose actions have had a positive, lasting impact on others. Notable past recipients of the Order of the Palmetto include singer James Brown, author Pat Conroy, tap dancer Clayton "Peg Leg" Bates, American Basketball Coach Dawn Staley, Professional Golfer Dustin Johnson, and Civil Rights activist Septima Clark.
