Bilas & Hawfield in Observer Feature

Moore & Van Allen Of Counsel and ESPN analyst Jay Bilas was the subject of a Charlotte Observer feature story on March 31.  Bankruptcy Member Ben Hawfield was also quoted in the article.

The piece, "ESPN basketball analyst Jay Bilas, a Charlotte resident, adds author to his reume," profiles Bilas’ role as a television analyst, author, “dad, lawyer, former actor, former Duke basketball player and coach, an NCAA reformer and acclaimed Twitter personality.”  Bilas, who just released his book “Toughness,” is pictured signing copies in his MVA office.

The article references Bilas’ career with the Firm, and offers perspective from Hawfield, who was MVA’s managing partner when Bilas was hired:  “'If you outwork the other guy, you’re more likely to get a better result… Commercial litigation is an intense career.  It requires a lot of effort, and Jay made that effort.  And he’s still working hard and on the go all during the season.’”
