Bowen Addresses Health Payment Reform
Charlotte Health Care Member Carol Bowen was published in the Charlotte Business Journal on November 29. Bowen’s article, “Regulatory barriers to cutting health costs,” overviews the regulatory limitations on both the federal and state level that need to be addressed when structuring evolving payment models, such as bundled payment arrangements and other non fee-for-service payment models.
“Each of these laws has a valid purpose, and it is reasonable for legislators and regulators to move cautiously before revising them. Nevertheless, meaningful payment reform cannot occur until there is clarity on how existing laws will apply to new payment models,” Bowen wrote.
