Bowen Discusses Potential Medical Device Tax Repeal

Charlotte Health Care Member Carol Bowen was quoted in Law360 on January 2, in the article “Life Sciences Legislation and Regulation to Watch in 2015.”  The piece discusses the regulation and legislation that attorneys say they will be paying attention to in the life sciences realm in the coming year.  While a difficult legislative environment may make it hard for such legislation to gain traction in Congress, the FDA and a broad federal regulatory agenda “will still provide plenty for industry and attorneys to chew on.”

Bowen specifically addressed the possible Affordable Care Act (ACA) medical device tax repeal: “…a repeal of the medical device tax may be one of the few issues involving the ACA to get bipartisan traction in the new Congress, Moore & Van Allen PLLC partner Carol Bowen argued, saying she expected to see some movement on the unpopular tax in the new Congress. ‘It seems to be a matter of agreement across party lines,’ she said.”
