Lanning Named a Leadership Council Fellow

Litigation Member Joshua D. Lanning was selected to join the 2013 class of Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows.  LCLD’s Fellows program was established to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.

“This is a singular honor for Josh,” said Moore & Van Allen Litigation Team Leader and Member Larry Gwaltney.  “He joins a select group of experienced attorneys recognized as potential leaders in their organizations and dedicated to deepening the commitment of our profession to be open to individuals of diverse backgrounds.”

Lanning’s wide-ranging litigation practice includes complex commercial disputes and substantial tort claims, with emphasis on business torts, securities fraud and contract disputes.  He has managed internal investigations for Fortune 500 companies and government bodies, and has represented plaintiffs and defendants in courts throughout North Carolina, as well as in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Maine, Georgia, Utah, Nebraska, Texas, and Louisiana.  Lanning has also made pro bono matters a priority within his practice, and in 2012, received one of MVA’s internal monthly pro bono awards for his work.

According to LCLD Executive Director Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.”

Founded in 2009, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity is a growing organization of more than 200 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a truly diverse legal profession.  Its goal is to help its Member organizations find, hire, retain, promote, and engage the best talent.
