MVA Member Recognized at 40 Under 40 Ceremony

Corporate member Joe Fernandez was recognized as one of the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2012 40 Under 40 honorees during a cocktail reception and awards presentation on March 7 at the McGlohon Theatre. Fernandez was also recognized in the Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Special Report on March 9.

Fernandez is a member of Moore & Van Allen’s Corporate practice group and works specifically with a number of the Firm’s business and energy clients.  He forms long-term relationships with clients by understanding their needs and delivering timely, practical solutions to their complex transactional matters, including purchase, sale and finance transactions for strategic parties, financial institutions and private equity groups.  He possesses specific experience representing energy companies in corporate finance and project finance transactions, in acquisitions and divestitures of project companies, in negotiating and drafting project contracts, and in the operation of electric generating facilities.  Fernandez serves as project counsel to electric generating facilities across the country.

In addition to the 40 Under 40 award, Fernandez has been selected for inclusion on the North Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2010-2012.  He is also a graduate of the Charlotte Chamber Leadership School and the United Way of the Central Carolinas’ Leading the Way program.
