McGinnis Discusses "Social Media Conundrum"

Charlotte Member Karin McGinnis was quoted in the Origination News article "The Social Media Conundrum; Stay away, dive in or just wade up to your belly button," which published on July 1.

McGinnis stated that, similar to the policies employers have on the use of company telephones, cell phones, email and computers, they need to put one in place regarding social media, as social media is an easy way for employees to inadvertently disclose confidential client information.

"'Employers concerned about such use can take steps, such as requiring supervisor approval, imposing stringent privacy settings on customer connections, and requiring the employee to remove the connection upon termination.'"
