Privacy & Data Security Blog Offers “Data Points”
Moore & Van Allen’s Privacy & Data Security team launched their blog “Data Points” this month. Data Points was created to provide readers with lucid perspective on the most prominent trends, legislation, rulings and issues in privacy and data security.
“Privacy and data security is a rapidly evolving area of the law and can impact many aspects of a company’s operations,” stated Moore & Van Allen (MVA) Member and Privacy & Data Security Team Co-HeadKarin McGinnis. “Our goal with Data Points is to reach business people who need to be familiar with these issues but may not have the time to dig into them. We want to provide summaries, analysis, and perhaps most importantly, practical takeaways that are relevant and accessible for every member of the business community.”
Data Points also provides a compilation of other Privacy & Data Security team communications, such as client updates and articles authored by team members. Readers can subscribe via email in order to receive alerts each time a new entry is posted. The first post, “Social Media Password Protection: Where are We Now?” was authored by McGinnis.
“Knowledge is power, and that’s what we want to offer to our clients, colleagues, and the business community at-large,” McGinnis stated.
MVA’s multi-disciplinary Privacy & Data Security team is co-led by McGinnis and Senior Counsel Todd Taylor. The attorneys on the team offer the depth and breadth necessary to advise the multitude of business industries and practices impacted by cybersecurity issues, including sales, human resources, data maintenance and storage, IT, legal and compliance, labor and employment, health care, finance, cross-border transactions, energy and litigation. All require careful attention to protecting the privacy of personal information as well as preserving the integrity of company, customer or third party data.
In addition to Data Points, the Firm also maintains a number of other blogs. The Energy Interdependency Blog seeks to inform companies navigating the domestic and global energy markets by providing leading-edge insight on issues critical to energy interdependency. The Litigation Blog provides cutting-edge information regarding developments in federal, North Carolina state, and international litigation, as well as in arbitration, regulatory enforcement, and related business practices. The MVA Public Affairs Blog provides insight on government, politics and policymaking, with a particular focus on tax and economic development issues in North Carolina.
