Rob Smith Graduates from Leadership South Carolina
Rob Smith, counsel within Moore & Van Allen’s Public Affairs practice group, has completed Leadership South Carolina’s nine-month leadership development program. Smith and his 47 classmates will be honored during a graduation ceremony at Clemson University on Friday, April 8. As a Leadership South Carolina graduate, Rob will join the ranks of more than 1,300 other graduates, some of which include business executives, professionals and leaders in the non-profit, faith, healthcare, agriculture and public sectors.
Leadership South Carolina was established by the Governor’s Office and South Carolina’s business community in 1978. Each year, approximately 50 individuals are selected to participate. Participants must either apply or be nominated, and are then chosen based on geographic area, ethnicity, age, gender, employment sector and community volunteerism. The program consists of six three-day sessions in different locations around the state. Each session focuses on a challenge the state is currently facing, and includes presentations, panels, experiential learning, and extensive class/presenter interaction. Leadership South Carolina’s mission is to identify and develop South Carolina’s emerging leaders “to create better-informed, energized and networked individuals who will pursue solutions to positively impact business, organizations and South Carolina’s communities,” according to the Web site.
