Two Moore & Van Allen members named to Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List”
Moore & Van Allen is pleased to announce that Charlotte Litigation members Frank E. Schall and Christopher D. Tomlinson have again been recognized as leading U.S. litigation attorneys on Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List.”
Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List” annually commemorates the nation’s up-and-coming litigators. Those named to the list are at the partner level of their respective firms and are 40 years of age or younger. Honorees have also had a hand in some of their firms’ noteworthy recent cases, and have earned praise from clients and peers regarding the quality of their work. Both Frank and Chris have been named to the list since 2018.
Frank has broad experience conducting internal investigations and representing clients in regulatory enforcement and white-collar criminal defense matters, including defense of allegations involving Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, False Claims Act violations, securities violations, mortgage fraud, and anti-money laundering concerns. He has represented clients in domestic and cross-border matters involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, various U.S. Attorneys’ offices, the Department of Justice, and the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
Chris has extensive experience representing clients in complex business and securities litigation, with concentrations in shareholder and corporate governance disputes, financial services litigation, broker-dealer litigation, aircraft leasing litigation, and mergers and acquisitions litigation. His clients include global financial institutions, broker-dealers, private equity groups, manufacturers, members, shareholders, and directors. He regularly litigates in federal and state courts, FINRA arbitration, and other private arbitrations. Chris has particular experience litigating cases in the North Carolina Business Court, and serves as a practice leader for MVA’s North Carolina Business Court Litigation group. He also assists clients with international and domestic regulatory enforcement matters, internal investigations, and white-collar criminal matters, particularly when they involve securities or other financial issues.
Benchmark Litigation identifies leading U.S. trial attorneys and firms at the local and national levels. The publication’s rankings and editorials stem from the culmination of a six-month research period during which researchers conduct extensive interviews with litigators and their clients to identify some of the leading litigators and firms. During these interviews, researchers examine recent casework handled by law firms and ask individual litigators to offer their professional opinions on peers.
