Charlotte Bankruptcy Member Zach Smith served as a contributing author for a piece that was published in the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal’s June 2015 edition. The article, "Puerto Rico: Still in the Spotlight,” addresses the well documented financial crisis surrounding the $73 billion in public debt that could force the government to shut down in the next three months. The article gives an update on some of the most talked about areas of the restructuring process which was originally discussed in a 2014 ABI Journal article including bond and tax reform, the Recovery Act and the Puerto Rico Chapter 9 Uniformity Act.
