Zaloom Quoted in SHRM
Triangle Litigation and Employment member John Zaloom was quoted in last month’s Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Online article “Lack of Degree Sometimes Can Be Overlooked.” The article addresses employment of individuals who lack a diploma or college degree and mentions the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s December 2011 discussion letter that states a diploma requirement might unlawfully screen out individuals on the basis of learning disabilities.
Zaloom “noted that someone in charge of selling complicated technology would not need a degree if he or she had the skill set from real-world experience. ‘There are many ways to obtain skill sets. Education is one of them,’ he remarked.”
