Q: Describe what you do at Moore & Van Allen.
A: I am a patent attorney in Moore & Van Allen’s intellectual property practice group. My main focus is patent procurement in a variety of technological areas.
Q: What steps do you take to stay updated on changes and developments in the legal profession?
A: A solid understanding of the underlying technology is critical to any patent application. Given the fast-paced nature of technological developments, it is important to not only stay abreast of changes in patent law, but also to make a habit of reading articles and blogs regarding new and emerging technologies, such as generative AI.
Q: Balancing a demanding legal career with personal life can be challenging. How do you manage to maintain a healthy work-life balance?
A: Healthy body, healthy mind. A little physical activity goes a long way in counterbalancing the largely sedentary nature of legal work.
Q: Who or what inspires you the most?
A: My father. He moved to the United States over thirty years ago with practically no money and a handful of belongings. Through sheer determination and effort, he was able to create a happy, comfortable life for our family. Knowing that, it’s hard for me to make too many excuses!
Q: What’s your favorite quote?
A: “Never forget your beginner’s spirit.”
Q: What is your favorite season?
A: Fall. Once the leaves start to change color, I recommend taking a cruise in the mountains to take in the sights.
