Overview
Ellen represents a wide range of clients in the development, prosecution, maintenance, and protection of domestic and international trademarks. She brings extensive experience and insider knowledge to her trademark prosecution practice that primarily focuses on availability searches and opinion letters, trademark application filings and related application prosecution, appeals and registration maintenance and renewals.
Prior to joining the firm, Ellen was at the US Patent and Trademark Office where she was responsible for handling trademark applications and training new trademark attorneys on trademark application practice and procedures and served for the Assistant Commissioner for Trademark where, among other things, she developed and interpreted policy for various sectors of the agency.
Ellen negotiates coexistence and consent agreements and assists with trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings as well as other enforcement related concerns. She works collaboratively with a wide network of international associates to obtain protection for US clients in various foreign jurisdictions and securing and maintaining trademark rights for foreign clients in the US. Ellen’s clients include large institutional clients, growing businesses, and individual entrepreneurs operating in a variety of industries, such as building and construction, education, athletics, fashion, computer software and hardware, finance, entertainment, and healthcare.
