Overview
Emily Kocher is an associate in Moore & Van Allen’s Litigation group. Prior to attending law school and her joining MVA, Emily worked as corporate governance and compliance legal analyst for Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions in Durham, NC where she dealt with various corporate governance issues facing the multinational company.
In law school, Emily served as the Executive Comments Editor of the North Carolina Civil Rights Law Review and the president of UNC Women In Law. Following her first year, Emily interned for the Honorable David C. Keesler of the Western District of North Carolina where she was introduced to the intricacies of the courtroom and worked to hone her legal writing, research, and analysis. During her final year of law school, Emily was a clinical student in UNC Law’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Clinic where she represented clients in private tort suits, obtaining Domestic Violence Protection Orders, and simple divorces. In 2023, Emily was awarded the Sarah J. Parker Academic Scholarship from the North Carolina Association for Women Attorneys and received an Honorable Mention for her written work by the American Society for Comparative Law.
Emily is a proud Double Tar Heel. She earned her B.A. in Journalism and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
