Overview
Jon focuses his practice on internal and government investigations for financial institutions. Jon also represents entities in DEI-related audits and reviews, including racial equity audits, and clients in complex commercial litigation and regulatory matters including financial regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining the firm, Jon served as a law clerk to the Honorable Rolando Olvera, U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of Texas.
Representative Experience
- Conducted a racial equity audit for CoreCivic, Inc, the nation’s largest private operator or correctional, detention, and residential reentry facilities and published a report detailing the team’s conclusions and recommendations (CoreCivic Racial Equity Audit Report)
- Represented financial institutions in inquiries brought by the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and U.S. Commodities Futures Trading Commission. Regularly conducts internal investigations related to complex financial and/or employment law matters, including allegations of misrepresentations to regulators and discrimination, retaliation, and harassment.
- Represented multiple financial institutions involving remediation following consent orders and preparing narrative responses to demonstrate compliance with regulatory commitments.
- Jon also regularly participates in pro bono projects, including representing tenants in landlord/tenant disputes and in post-conviction proceedings in federal court.
