Lauren brings extensive criminal trial and litigation experience to her practice, which focuses on white-collar criminal defense and government investigations. As a Colorado Deputy Public Defender, Lauren represented clients in Colorado facing felony charges, including financial crimes such as money laundering, tax evasion, and fraud.
Lauren has conducted numerous high-stakes, multi-week criminal trials. Lauren is a fierce advocate who possesses a deep commitment to her clients.
Representative Experience
Team member experience prior to joining Moore & Van Allen
- Secured a dismissal days before trial in a felony case involving two University of Colorado students
- Litigated discovery and Brady violations which resulted in a jurisdictional finding of a pattern of negligence by the 20th Judicial District Attorneys Office and subsequent dismissal of approximately five felony cases
- Negotiated the dismissal of a felony case where the sentence was a mandatory indeterminate life sentence
- Negotiated an advantageous plea deal to probation for a nineteen-year-old client with intellectual disabilities who was facing a mandatory indeterminate life sentence
- Wrote and successfully argued a sentencing memorandum which resulted in a sentence of probation for a client despite the District Attorney’s request for a sentence of more than a decade of prison
- Successfully petitioned the court to reject a longstanding practice by the 20th Judicial District Probation Office that prohibited defendants from choosing which state-approved provider conducts their pre-sentence offense-specific examination
