Overview
McCord collaborates with business leaders, counsel, and engineers to discover, define, and protect innovative ideas that drive market growth and strategically corner market segments. McCord also assists corporate counsel with mergers and acquisitions involving intellectual property and licenses by performing due diligence on and assessments of target and competitor portfolios and establishing clearance positions with respect to patents and portfolios. He also leads teams of patent attorneys and patent professionals to prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
McCord has a broad base of technical experience that ranges from software, mobile devices, the field of optical sciences, and image and laser-based data collection devices to the mechanical arts, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals. He and his team prepare and prosecute patent applications for the world-leading supplier of artificial-intelligence hardware and software as well as graphics processing units (GPUs) and chip systems for mobile computing and the automotive market. McCord has developed extensive technical knowledge regarding optical-fiber design as well as manufacturing technologies related to optical fibers and fiber optic cabling. Additionally, he has prepared and prosecuted patent applications for voice-recognition software, complex mechanical devices, as well as microwave instruments and microwave-assisted techniques for chemical analysis and synthesis.
McCord’s work further includes coordinating inbound U.S. national stage patent application filings for foreign corporations with international patent portfolios. McCord also prepares patentability opinions and counsels clients in various aspects of intellectual property.
