North Carolina Lawyers Weekly Recognizes Alyssa Mclean as an Unsung Legal Hero
Moore & Van Allen PLLC (MVA) is pleased to announce that Commercial Real Estate paralegal Alyssa Mclean was named to North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s 2024 Unsung Legal Heroes list.
The Unsung Legal Heroes awards honor law firm employees who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty, often behind the scenes. The award is reserved for the most talented and dedicated legal support professionals from a range of categories, including accounting, administrative, IT, marketing, paralegals, and more.
Mclean assists MVA’s Commercial Real Estate team with contract preparation, closing documents, due diligence and research, lease agreements, and correspondence.
Additionally, she aids the MVA attorneys who represent child sex abuse material (CSAM) victims as an extension of the firm’s Human Trafficking Prevention & Compliance practice. Mclean devotes significant time and resources advocating for victims’ restitution and financial recovery. Her involvement ranges from matters involving the Child Pornography Victims Reserve, which provides defined monetary assistance to eligible individuals who are depicted in child pornography, to liaising with representatives from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, FBI, and Homeland Security. Further, Mclean helps with the management of federal and state restitution requests, defendant asset investigations, criminal history reports, and much more. With Mclean’s help, MVA has filed for restitution in over 600 federal criminal cases in one year alone.
“Alyssa goes above and beyond in her work supporting the representation of CSAM victims, a cause that’s an extension of MVA’s Human Trafficking Prevention & Compliance practice,” said MVA Member Sarah Byrne, who leads the firm’s Human Trafficking Prevention & Compliance practice. “She devotes tremendous time, passion, and diligence advocating for victims’ restitution and financial recovery.”
In recognition of Mclean’s dedication to these causes, she received the 2024 Outstanding Volunteer Staff Member Award at MVA’s 23rd Annual Sally & Bill Van Allen Public Service Luncheon.
