MVA supports World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
Moore & Van Allen commits to bringing awareness today, World Day Against Trafficking in Persons - during the year in which the United Nations is focusing on championing human trafficking first responders. These individuals work in identifying, supporting, counseling and seeking justice for victims of trafficking, and challenging the impunity of the traffickers.
During this pandemic, developing and maintaining an effective response to human trafficking ought to remain high priority for our service providers, government agencies, schools, healthcare workers, law enforcement, courts and financial service providers. Perpetrators may take advantage of our fragile communities and temporary processes, causing already vulnerable people to become even more susceptible to victimization. The indigent, unprotected, abused, neglected, or those battling mental illness may be left behind in the wake of this pandemic. The Moore & Van Allen Human Trafficking Pro Bono Project, along with its community partners across the country, remains committed to fighting human trafficking and supporting the needs of survivors, particularly during these unprecedented times.
