Overview
John McCaffrey serves as counsel in Moore & Van Allen's Corporate group. John primarily represents investors in connection with the tax aspects of investments in renewable energy assets, including solar, wind and storage projects, across a wide variety of structures, including sale-leaseback and partnership-flip transactions, along with tax credit transfer transactions under the Inflation Reduction Act.
Representative Experience
- Lead tax counsel representing two financial institutions in the negotiation and structuring of a $141 million construction loan financing and a separate $210 million sale-leaseback tax equity financing for a 42MW / 168 MWh solar plus storage project located on the Pearl Harbor naval base in Oahu, HI
- Represented corporate client on the purchase of more than $40 million of investment and production tax credits from a variety of solar, wind, storage, and renewable natural gas projects
- Lead tax counsel representing financial institution in a $100 million sale-leaseback tax equity financing for a portfolio of solar and solar + storage projects located across the United States
