Overview

Jordyn McAtee is a Litigation Paralegal at Moore & Van Allen with complex litigation experience in a wide variety of matters in both State and Federal courts. She has experience related to white-collar criminal actions, racial equity assessments, employment disputes, risk management, and governmental enforcement matters. Jordyn also frequently assists with internal investigations pertaining to employee misconduct and regulatory compliance issues within financial institutions. Jordyn earned her bachelor’s degree in human services and criminal justice at Elon University and is currently enrolled in the North Carolina Bar Certification program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

DEI Highlights:

  • Prior to joining Moore & Van Allen, Jordyn served as an intern with the Alamance County, North Carolina District Attorney’s office working as a Victim and Witness Assistant to individuals experiencing domestic violence conflicts. Jordyn conducted and presented research on the rates of reported domestic violence cases within the county’s Hispanic and Latinx population and provided recommendations to address existing barriers to victim reporting.
  • Jordyn was the recipient of Elon University’s 2018-2019 Outstanding Criminal Justice Student Award for her research on the correlation of criminal justice encounters, race, and legal cynicism within the African American population.
  • Jordyn assisted with a racial equity audit for CoreCivic, Inc, the nation’s largest private operator of correctional, detention, and residential reentry facilities, and published a report detailing the team’s conclusions and recommendations. (CoreCivic Racial Equity Audit Report)

  • Jordyn assisted with preparing a Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court on behalf of Mohamed Yousef Hamoud, who was ultimately granted release from a US maximum security prison after serving a 27-year sentence based on charges related to providing funds to a terrorist organization.
