MVA Global Services Member Steve Hader will join Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts and 10 other delegates on a trip aimed at strengthening relationships and encouraging foreign investment. Public Affairs Counsel Rob Smith participated in a panel discussion at the State House in Columbia during State Government Day for the Greenville Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Greenville program. The presentation titled, "The New DOL Overtime and White Collar Exemption Regulations: They're Here, Now What?", discussed the new DOL overtime and white collar exemption regulations, ways to pay impacted staff going forward, DOL enforcement strategies and tips and best practices for compliance and risk avoidance.

Yingling was formally announced as the winner in the Corporate category at the Sixth Annual Charlotte ATHENA Leadership Awards® event on November 10 at the Mint Museum Uptown.

Charlotte Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring member Zach Smith will speak at the ABI Caribbean Insolvency Symposium on February 11, 2017 in Grand Cayman.  As a member of the Symposium’s Advisory Board, Smith will participate in a panel discussion regarding the Puerto Rico financial crisis and the federal oversight board created under the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA).  The panel, moderated by Chief Bankruptcy Judge Enrique S. Lamoutte of the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico, will examine PROMESA and the major challenges faced by the oversight board in addressing Puerto Rico’s economic crisis.

MVA’s Charlotte office hosted a legal seminar on July 19 for non-profit and for-profit entrepreneurs who are a part of Queen City Forward's high impact accelerator program. The seminar provided an overview of the legal issues encountered by nonprofit and for-profit companies in the early start-up phases.
